My Happily Ever After

My heart pounding and with sweat lining my brow,
I looked at him coyly, he who had come for my hand.
With his broad shoulders and tall, strong frame
He was different from the rest, even in a crowd, apart he would stand.

I sat in front of him and I could feel his eyes on me,
I fidgeted with my bangles and adjusted the saree,
draped on my slender body so gracefully,
Even as I served him tea, my hands felt cold and clammy.

They asked me some questions random
He asked me if I had any queries of my own,
I had a million things on my mind but I just sat there dumb.
As if reading my mind he requested to spend some time with me alone.

We walked and we talked,
We conversed about all things under the sun so effortlessly,
I told him about my dreams without the fear of being mocked.
I realized with this man beside me, I’d never ever feel lonely.

As we reached back, I knew that I had found my soul mate for life
He looked into my eyes and asked me if I would be his wife
Happily I nodded my head, with joy my face was flushed.
That’s the story of my happily ever after
which commenced
When he kissed my cheeks and I blushed
