Review: Ok, Sophie Kinsella is the queen of
chick-lit. There’s no doubt in my mind about it after reading this book. And I
think I may be harboring a teeny-weeny crush on Jack Harper, the rich
multimillionaire who is privy to all Emma’s secrets. I mean seriously do such
guys even exist in real life?
This has to be one of Sophie Kinsella’s best
works. The female character, Emma Corrigan, is portrayed so well and believable.
She has her flaws and yet she endeavors on to find that perfect love in her
life and success in her job.
There are lots of humorous situations that evoke
more than a giggle and then there are some scenes which strike an emotional
chord in the reader. The strength of Sophie Kinsella’s most books would be the
smooth, simple narration. It did not feel like I’m reading a book, it’s more
like I’m listening in to a conversation.
I definitely liked Jack Harper’s character, I mean
who wouldn’t? He’s kind, he’s funny, he’s thoughtful and to top it all, he’s a multimillionaire.
I have read a couple of Sophie Kinsella’s books
but I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I’m planning to pick up the shopaholic
series next.
Verdict: Funny, witty, romantic and definitely
worth a read. Especially if you are a chick lit lover like me!

This is one of my favorite works by her :) I read it long back and enjoyed it immensely. Yeah, go pick up the Shopaholic series. Becky Bloomwood is a riot!
